Here is another case of a person I came across recently. This person was stuck for the past 5 years in Namechecks . He applied for GC in 2001. He got his GC just recently after a long wait and struggle.

Hi All,
I am on a business trip to Chennai and I was interviewed for my H1-B renewal on Dec 6th 2007, unaware of the PIMS as it was not mentioned anywhere on the website that it will take this long to receive the passport. I was granted my visa within few minutes but till date (Jan 1st, 08) I have not received my passport. Was interviewed at the Chennai consulate. It has been heights of frustration as I had to spend all my Christmas holidays and New years at Chennai with all my fly being in US. I was supposed to return to US on Dec19th had to postpone my tickets to Dec 24th and then to Dec 29th. Now finally I have cancelled my tickets as it was costing me $200 every time I modify my itinerary.The US consulate, Chennai keeps on extending the processing time from 3 to 7 to 10 and it has been 15 working days already now, but still no passport in hand. Last week on Friday (Dec 28th) got an email that it might take additional 7 working days, huh ! Good thing is my company is in Chennai so atleast I can go to work or else it would have been really painful.
Was anybody else interviewed at Chennai during that black week ??? with similar situation ?

This is what i am doing to call a cell phone or any land line in india. Vonage has a call forwarding feature. Simply log in to your vonage account and go to features and configure the call forwarding feature.Configure such that the call is forwarded after 20 sec's. Intially vonage rings and after that it is forwarded to the india cell or landline forwarding number. Its free of charge as calling from vonage to india #'s is free. Hope this puts the debate to rest.
I already took Vonage world phone. I am happy with it. However, I happened to see somewhere in the thread about Lingo offering india calling even through the mobile. That had me give a second thought on switching over to Lingo.
However, when I read the fine print on the lingo site, it mentions you cannot call Mobile phones in India. This catch makes me go crazy. Can some one confirm how are they handling with this constraint. Is that still a good option to switch over vonage to lingo based on this single feature?

First of all the progress of this thread so depressing.
Finished calling all in the list. Generally the response from Dems was better, I felt good after talking in Dem's offices.
Similarly general response from Repub's was short (even curt), not very enthusiastic.

I am not sure if u were born as an idiot or became an idiot after being turning a so called "donor".
To be frank I stopped contributing as and when IV started having donor forums.
There are thousands of websites and forums througout the internet to get info and what VKBris posted may not even come close to what Q and Teddy and so many others used to share as a group.
Now coming on to freebies,What benefit does IV provide to past contributors.I have contributed in the past, have been active at the initial stages,have spent my own money and booked airtickets to meet senators.Been a leader in a state chapter.But later realised that it was not worth for this forum which has partitions among so called donors.
Why the heck does any one want to see in a home page about posts on a donor forum.Just hide it and keep it among yourself and discuss .
Now red may follow,and a possible ban.

Believe me its all very simple but has been only possible with news, inputs, suggestions and critique from all its really teamwork. Only together we have been able to come to understand how best we can predict what the future holds for us. Nobody claims or guarantees for accuracy however we do try our best to give out the most up to date forecast. Many folks like and appreciate this and it brings traction and new members to IV. Nobody is discounting that advocacy is not important it really is important. However the characterization of freeloader by some is extremely unfortunate I would attribute it simply to their lack of understanding. Hello, I can understand your pain as I was in a similar situation as you are. I would recommend to wait for atleast 2 weeks. I interviewed on 28th Dec and finally got the email on 9th Jan and the pp stamped on 10th Jan and took the flight on 12th Jan.
If you have an upcoming travel which is in next week, please try to reschedule it as it is not certain on how much time does it take in such cases.
I do not think getting the employer involved into this will help. VFS office will have no clue on this and they will answer only Questions on the process. Writing to the US consulate will also give you a general answer. It is sad that there is no accountability in cases like these. Please keep the faith.
I am in the same situation. Appeared for interview on 8th jan in Mumbai. They returned my PP, I-797 with a yellow paper and asked me to wait for email. Haven't recieved any email yet. Do I need to contact my employer? Does my employer need to call someone in US for approval? Or shall I just keep waiting? It is very frustrating. I called VFS office but they don't know anything.. If anyone has received email or approval please keep us posted as this is the only source of information.
If you have an upcoming travel which is in next week, please try to reschedule it as it is not certain on how much time does it take in such cases.
