I've sent 7001 form to ombudsman and wondering how many days it will take to get a response from them. Can you tell us how long it took for you to get response and how did they contact you? Also after sending 7001 did you follow up by calling or mailing ombudsman?

worst case
I might be the worst case so far in PIMS verification delay. I attended the interview on Dec 17th at Chennai and still have not received my passport. They asked to send the original I-797 on Jan 03. I sent it on Jan 04 and after that there is no response. It is very very aggravating.

I have a copy of my approved I-140, and the only number I see on it is Receipt Number at the top left side of the notice. It reads like LIN-xx-xxx-xxxxx.
Is this the A# number you are referring to?
That is your receipt number. In my case, the A# is in the box that has the name of the beneficiary.

Dear All,
We need to expose the fraudulent EB1 filing by Indian companies! Under the circumstances, I think that this issue is much more relevant now! As such, I would once again like to share the information which I obtained about 6 weeks back from the local Congressman's office.
I was pleasantly suprised to learn that many Indians have been quietly writing about the fraudulent EB1 filing by Indian IT companies to lawmakers! I was told that the local office had received about 50 or so signed (hard copy) letters and that they had subsequently spoken to the INS office about this. It is a good thing that some conscientous Indians are quietly working behind the scenes for the welfare of the community.
Subsequently, I also made a letter on the subject and hand delivered the same the very next day, to the Congressman's office. I then also posted my letter to the Senators of my state.
I once again plead with all fellow EB Indian friends to write letters (please do not Email) about the fraudulent EB1 filings by Indian IT companies (TCS, CTS, L&T-IT, Infosys, Vetri software, et al) to your local congressman / senators. Please also visit your lawmakers to follow up. Personally, I feel that this very very important. IV is there to help us, but all of us must also play a role to get results
It is the strategy that will win the war, not always brute force! We should adopt a multi-pronged attack strategy, realising that each ever visa no. we get is important!
Spending about an hour of your time to write, print, sign and post could save many atleast 2 years of wait time. Did your realize this?
Imagine the impact of 1000s of covers getting dumped in your law makers' offices!
Even lawmaker's offices feel that the impact of printed and signed hard copies is much higher than Emails!
If we are united and focused, we can all win!

Free calls to India!! Awesome! Thanks for posting this here. 11 years ago, it used to cost $1.05 (using ATT) on weekdays and $.65 over weekends to call India. I was studying and my phone bills used to be more than rent! :).
I have been a Vonage customer for last 2.5 years and it works great. I use it for US, UK, Singapore calls. I use Airtel for India calls. From now on, it will be Vonage for India calls and Airtel if I need to call from my cell phone.

What Pappu says is right. Ppl have been so impatient that they're bombarding USCIS with SRs, emails, letters from attorneys, Infopass etc..etc...etc...I understand the anxiety but isnt this a bit 2 much? I was no exception to this. I raised an SR on the very first day my date got current and on trying to followup on the SR the very next week, I stumbled upon a clearly tired second level IO who didn't like the way I was pushing for it. He clearly explained to me that there was no need to worry as the dates were current and everyone who was current and cleared of security would be approved as there were several visa numbers available and he also told me that there have been thousands of calls received everyday and its becoming really hard for them to handle the situation. I could see how tired and frustrated he was. I immediately understood their plight and just waited without any further action and within a span of 15 days after that call, I got my approval. My attorney also advised me to wait as he was sure the dates were gonna be current the next month as well and followups would only result in delays.
Well I'm not saying its wrong to be anxious. Ofcourse, its an important milestone, one that secures our future in this country and yes, its only natural to be anxious. But being anxious doesn't mean that by calling or emailing or Ombudsman etc...ur case will be approved. Try and put yourselves in the IO's shoes as well. For a moment think what it wud be like to be an USCIS first lvl/second lvl IO receiving the same call every minute from a diff person and each one trying to reach the second lvl IO with lies such as my A# on file is diff than the one on 140 OR address change etc...etc...This is ridiculous. After years of wait we resort to such shameful behavior towards the end.
Yes when others with later PDs are getting approved and u r still waiting, it does bring out frustration in u. But u should also put in thought as to why that could be. Maybe one of the security checks in ur case is awaited or maybe ur file is on some table waiting to be picked up etc...I was venting out my anger and frustration during my wait on this forum and ppl were only asking me to do that, do this blah blah blah. I just waited nevertheless as I knew the moment I spoke with the IO that there was really no point in following up as cases were getting approved and USCIS was definitely WORKING as hard as they could (even on weekends) to clear all current cases.
There was one dumb idiot who called and spoke to the second level IO (per his own words "just to confirm") even after getting the CPO email. I mean how foolish and idiotic is that. It simply means that USCIS is hell bent on clearing all the cases which have been current since July and my best guess is until the last of the "current" cases has been approved, the dates will be not be retrogressed.
It is fine for you NOW that you received your GC now and "see" the plight of IO. You are drinking cool aid now under the awnings of Green card. It is now tough for you to understand the plight of the people on "this" side as you crossed over to the "other"side. It is the same old story of people who got their GC and Citizenship dont care about the people who are going to wait for dog long years. Imagine what would have you done, if you didn't receive your GC in 15 days time, i am sure that by this time you would have shaked the earth from heaven to hell by calling your senators, ombudsman, alderman, congressmen etc. Instead of giving advice to others to understand the plight of IO's, keep your emotions under check and encourage others to do their best. I am seeing people getting multiple #A numbers and delays.
If you have filed multiple I485s, pls share your expiences here.
You mean you know of some people who filed multiple 485s in July/August and have got 2 different A#s?
We are still waiting for a response for our second application (filed in Aug). We had A#s on our I-140s so mentioned the same A#s on both applications and also noted in the second filing that one is already pending.

I believe that we will get 14-15K from EB2 ROW, EB1 = 12K (currently) + 6K (Minimum), regular cap I/C 6K. Eb2 row usage is down to 60%.
Total Numbers = 14 + 18 + 6 = 38K.
Now total demand is not just 34K demand data we also have porting and new filings especially from May - Jul 2007. My assumption of porting has been 6K out of which 2K have been approved.
So really its almost an exact match till Jul - Aug 2007. We should wait for the May bulletin thing to come true firts I believe VDLRAO gave a great calculation for that.
Don't forget EB5

Does anyone know how long this process takes (from online app to visa stamped)? I just filled in my app online on wednesday hoping to finish it off on the weekend. Now their site is down for maintenance until monday.
