Why do you think so...coz I'm in that state. My spouse who is the primary applicant got the card and my application is still in review ???

If a family member's derivative adjustment of status application has been pending in excess of 30 days from the approval date of the principal applicant's Form I-485, please submit to cisombudsman.publicaffairs@dhs.gov:

�A copy of the Form I-485 receipt notice for the derivative; and
�Any other evidence that is pertinent to the case.

I-693, supplemental I-693 (vaccination record) , copy of enclosed documents, blood tests (HIV) , skin test results( BCG), your acceptance for these tests, x-ray report (if skin test is very positive - see belwo) and TB diagnosis ( no TB) is enclosed in the sealed envelope. In original.
The same set is given to you. The medical staff with go through section by section and show it to you (in your copy) that all sections are completed ans signed. If you take vaccination on the first day, then on the third day they will give you sealed cover. [LIST=1]

I shopped around yesterday for lawyers coz I wanted to fire my lawyer (my company's lawyer) and get my own.
Turns out, they are all very very busy and some of them are refusing to take on new cases. The ones that do accept new cases are asking for something like $3,000 just to file 485/EAD/AP for primary appliant and spouse.
Although its hard to get confidence in doing this on your own, its also hard to shell out $3,000 just to fill out forms and have a pair of eyes look over it. And after $3000, there is no guarantee that the lawyer's work would be perfect either coz they too, make mistakes as the paperwork (which 90% of immigration work) is really done by paralegals who dont care as much as they should.
There are lot of people on portal who have filed 485 and EAD/AP on their own. I will link some threads here as I find them. And most people renew their EAD and AP on their own coz they would have left their sponsoring employer and they would be pretty much in charge of everything. So if people can file EAD./AP on their own, then the intial 485 is only one more form.

Yes agree. The point is that for an example in September 2008 if you used AC21 then on that date you and your employer claimed that your skills are matching for "particular EB3 job classification" . Now if you go interfiling to USCIS in March 2009 then USCIS doubt as logically employer ca not establish the "natural skill progression" within 6 months.
One more thing - RFEs. Although people used AC21 in 2007 or start of 2008, just recently USCIS sent RFEs to many. All of them have just finished replying those RFEs in which hthey claimed that they are still working on a "same job" matching EB3 skill. My employer sent that RFE response in May 2009. So my clock starts again from May 2009. In December 2009 it is almost impossible for my employer to show that " I am fit for advanced skills". So this is the glitch that lot many lawyers are strongly hesitant to proceed on interfiling.
But I have already taken the promoton on Jan 2009 (raise and change in job requirements since I filed perm) and moved to the new eb2 position...I dd that after a year and half from eb3 485..... the job is same/similar but requirements and skills have changed

I am planning on applying as a dependent using my wife's 485. I already have one 485 application. My question will it affect my wife'e processing. I am not so worried about my processing, if it gets delayed so be it. Also I think the chances of I getting two A# is slim bcos i would mention my A#, in my new 485 application.

I didn't get the phone# for USCIS compaint dept. But some one(may be ashres11) posted one phone#18003238603 for DHS. I called that number and it turned out Inspector General office. As i reported earlier. He told me to call regular USCIS 800. I said it's useless. He took some note and asked to call this new number 877-246-8253.

I think you should be able to file the 485 yourself. The form is simple. If you can get a lawyer to do it and get all the appropriate 140 approval docs- the better, but I don't foresee any issues "doing-it-yourself".
Advace Parole is a travel document that lets you return back into the US without a H1B stamp on your passport. The AP has to be renewed every year along with the EAD (employment authorization doc) card.
